The Wm. Malcolm telescopic rifle sight will look right at home on just about
any black powder cartridge rifle from that era. These scopes closely duplicate
the original "rifle telescopes" that were produced by the
"Wm. Malcolm" Rifle Telescope Company during the late 1800's,
and which were considered the finest of their day. And Leatherwood/Hi-Lux Optics
has made this old design even better by incorporating fully multi-coated lenses
and a nitrogen-filled tube to prevent fogging. Our new-made "Wm. Malcolm"
scopes come

complete with precise external adjustment front and rear mounts with
1,000-yard capability with the standard .45-70 rifle cartridge.
The scope tube measures 29- inches in length and features screw-in front extensions,
which permit this scope to be mounted on a wide range of barrel lengths.
And thanks to a well thought out mounting system that utilizes the existing
dove-tail cuts for the front and rear sights, the Leatherwood/Hi-Lux Optics
"Wm. Malcolm" scope can be installed with a bare minimum of gunsmithing.
The scope is currently offered with 6x magnification, and comes with a
five-inch screw in extension, which makes it ideal for most rifles with a
30-inch barrel length. The scope features a full four-inches of eye relief
for protection from the recoil of large bore black powder cartridge rifles.

Things to Consider Before you Buy
We carry two distinct versions of the Malcolm scope - a long barrel and a short barrel scope.
For the Malcolm Long Scope,
What is the length of your barrel?
- 26" (cannot use Long Scope. Ok to use Short Scope)
- 28" (3" extension tube needed)
- 30" (5" extension tube/standard in pkg)
- 32" (7" extension tube needed)
- 34" (9" extension tube needed)
What is the size of your rear dove tail mount?
- 3/8" - nothing needed. Our Knurled mount slides on
- 1/2" - need 1/2" dove tail block.
*Note: The Heavy Duty Base, and Tube Locking Clamp come standard with the Long Scope.
HOWEVER, customer needs to "Tap-and-Dye" two holes with the two setscrews we provide,
due to the heavy recoil action. Also included is the Heavy Duty Recoil Ring.
